In the name of God, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

In the name of God, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

We as American-Muslims of Western Michigan along with the entire
American-Muslim community are deply saddened by the massive
loss of life resulting from the tragic events of September 11th.

We unequivocally condemn these vicious and cowardly acts of terrorism.

Islam as one of the three Abrahamic faiths, denounces any
and all forms of terrorism. Terrorism has no religion, no prophet,
no holy book. Terrorism cannot be a means for any Islamic goal,
and a terrorist cannot be a Muslim, nor can a true Muslim be a
terrorist. Islam orders peace and a true Muslim can only be a
symbol of peace and maintenance of basic human rights.

Islam's holy book, the Quran, declares that, "Whosoever kills a human
being other than in punishment for murder or causing corruption
in the earth, it shall be as if he had killed all humanity, and
whosoever saves the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the
life of all humanity (5:32.)

We join with all Americans in calling for the swift apprehension and
punishment of the perpetrators of these crimes.

The Quran orders the Muslims: "O you who believe! Stand out firmly for
justice, as witnesses to God, even though it be against yourselves, or
your parents, or your kin, be he rich or poor" (4:134.)

Our sincerest prayers go out to all who have suffered, and those whose
families or friends have suffered. There were also hundreds of Muslims
amongst the victims. We pray that God grant us patience and
guide all of us during these difficult times.

We pray that all communities in America and world citizens
of all faiths find peace and healing from within themselves
and through their prayers.

We extend our gratitude to all of the heroic firefighters, police officers and
emergency medical workers who continue to rishk their lives in the ongoing
rescue and relief efforts. We also appreciate and thank Western
Michigan official authorities, various faith communities, and the
public who have supported the Muslim community against the
backlash that we have faced in recent dys.

May we stand together through these difficult times to
promote peace and love over violence and hate.

There cannot be too much of this kind of courageous and honorable statement.

We should listen to their words but we should more closely observe their actions. This is a good statement but it has taken a long time and many Americans crying for Islam to denounce the actions of their own. I reserve judgment subject to further developments.

Please define terrorism. Also, explain the passage in the Koran about being able to lie to accomplish your objectives. That's just for starters. Sorry, but the more I read about Islam and the Koran, the less the "admonishments" from the "peaceful" Muslims mean anything to me. If a tenet of the faith is that you can spew all the peace loving stuff you want, and condemn the terrorists till your blue in the face, yet "not really mean it," then all the blather in the world has to be ignored. SHOW me more than words and I will gladly embrace the "moderate" Muslims. For starters, let's see some actual religious (not secular) Muslims begin doing battle with the more radical elements.

There is a mosque I know in North Seattle. I have not been by lately, but my wife says the entry and the walk are choked with flowers and with messages of friendship for the Muslims there.

(This is the same mosque, I believe, where some drunk attempted to torch a car, drove himself into a pole trying to escape when the attempt failed. He is now looking at life in prison. I have no sympathy for him.)

Similar to the continued statements that Muslims don't support unholy war or bloodshed. When you go back to read what they consider holy war or bloodshed, you find out they haven't necessarily even condemned the attacks on the WTC or any terrorist attack for that matter.

My point? Words are meaningless, because the blather they are spewing is about as parsed as Bill Clinton's "IS."

Don't believe this crap! Actions speak a lot louder than words - just like Mohammed being a warrior, a child molester, person who had people murdered, speaks a lot louder than what he said.

"You will know a tree by its fruit."

If all this is true, then why did Moslems, down through the centuries, behead people if they refused to convert to Moslem? Huh?

Why do Moslems not allow their children (as a rule) to associate with American children?

According to this, the terrorsist are doing right, in the eyes of many Arab Muslims.

It's that pesky phrase "corruption in the earth" that people blithely read over. Ironic that a writing they chose is one that OBL or any other Muslim could use to justify killing.

or causing corruption in the earth

If I was inclined, I could use that clause to justify the WTC. It's could be an all purpose excuse.

If islam is against terrorism, the taliban cannot be regarded as muslims. I dont see why muslim countries should oppose the bombing of the taliban.

Forget what they SAY, see what they DO. The same Mohammedans who were invited to pray by Bush were just a short time earlier rallying people against Israel and for Hamas and Hezbollah.

Ask the next Mohammedan you meet if they want to see Sharia (Islamic Law) become the law of this land.
